On the Edge of Reality

It happens very often in the world of professional sports that we see careers cut short because of injury. The risks and hazards that all professional athletes take when they step onto the field, court, ice, diamond, and pitch (or whatever their sport’s playing field is called) are always high. Sometimes these injuries occur to younger players leaving us fans to ponder questions like “What if?” and wonder about what could have been. Other times we see injuries occur to older athletes that were just hanging for a few more years. Although career-ending injuries strip away an athlete’s ability to walk away on his or her terms…they sometimes turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Finally!!!!

Finally…The Rock…has come back…HOME! Those were the opening lines to one of the greatest return promos in WWE history. After seven long years, The Rock (or as non-wrestling fans may know him: Dwayne Johnson) finally returned to a WWE ring; most importantly a Monday Night Raw broadcast. He was announced as the special guest host for this year’s WrestleMania (the 27^th installment) emanating from Atlanta, Georgia.

Sting to the WWE? 2-21-11

The wrestling world has literally exploded on the internet over that last 24 hours. On last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw a very dark and mysterious teaser vignette ran. You hear the wind howling, the thunder crackling, and rain falling as the scene fades in from black. A figure appears on the screen but you only see his legs. The man is wearing a black trench coat. The man begins walking towards what appears to be some kind of house or shack. The scene dissolves into the figure walking up a flight of stairs. You still only see his legs. The scene then zooms out as all you see is the house he walked into and the rain continues to fall. Cryptically “2-21-11” appears on the screen in fiery letters as the scene fades to black.

Every Rose Has Its Thorn

As the new guy to Sorts of Sports I sort of took it upon my responsibility to check out the whole site. As I look, I notice that WWE really just gets no support at all. I mean its like a complete disrespect. Guys, at one point or another in your life, you have had to have watched wrestling. Its the soap opera for men. I mean if you havent watched it in your childhood through college days, guys there might actually be something wrong with you. You most likely lived a very sheltered life style which consisted of piano lessons, most likely a lot of tennis, and combing your mothers hair at nights (or comparable to Buster Bluth from Arrested Development).
