Steve and Steve make their NHL season predictions. We'll look back in a few months and pick them apart.
Faulks give his picks while Steve B aka "Stump12" gives you his pick with the write-ups. Some of these write-ups get in depth, so casual hockey fans heed the warning (see Kings). But honestly, read it, you'll learn something.

So who is going to show up? What is going to happen Wednesday night at 8 PM when the puck drops in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks for those of you who live under a rock. So let’s have a quick rundown of the series. Game 1 was basically even, The Bruins outshot the Canucks, but lost 1 – 0 off a Raffi Torres goal with 18.5 seconds left in the third period. Game 2, once again, very even game, with Vancouver having the edge in scoring, and winning the game 3 – 2 with an overtime goal from biting sensation Alex Burrows. The goal came just 11 seconds into Overtime.

1. Can Boston forget about Game 1?
The Bruins were beaten on a goal by Raffi Torres with 18.5 seconds left in regulation time. That’s a pretty big blow, but the Bruins have responded well after losses in the previous rounds. They will need tough skin to get over this one. Best thing for them is to survive the first 10-minutes of play that will heavily be carried by the Canucks then go from there.

The theme of this year's Stanley Cup Final is the exercising of postseason failure. Both the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins have experienced losing, not just in the history of both franchises, but recent memory as well.

I get it. The NHL realizes that they are a niche sport. There are the die-hards like myself and many others, who have grown up with the sport and understand its appeal and its amazing qualities. The rest of the world (or at least the people who get HBO) were able to get a peek into that world with the “Penguins/Capitals 24/7” which was amazing television and a view into the sport that anyone who never played hockey would never have been able to see. But even with that, it’s a sport that will be characterized by its cult following, a sport that unless there is a new television deal with ESPN next year will have very few highlights on Sportscenter, and a sport that will be an after-thought in mainstream America.

Editor's Note: We continue the NHL Preview with the Atlantic Division
New Jersey Devils
Last Year: 48-27-7; 103 points; 1st in Atlantic Division; 2nd in Eastern Conference
The Devils were disappointing last year bowing out in the first round, again. They were exposed defensively despite being the top defensive team in the league during the regular season and the big acquisition of Ilya Kovalchuk didn’t help fans forget about their playoff struggles from prior seasons. They were able to re-sign Kovalchuk and are in position to be at the top of the Eastern Conference yet again. Biggest question surrounding the team heading into the beginning of the season is who will be wearing a different sweater on opening night as victim of the cap casualties caused by Kovalchuk’s gigantic contract.
