Here are this week's NHL Power Rankings, brought to you by Steve and the letter "L"
Without further ado.
| 1.Washington Capitals | Washington is 8-1-1 over last 10, and Alex Ovechkin and Alex Semin are 3/4 in the scoring race. |
| 2. Los Angeles Kings | Los Angeles is still undefeated at home, and is allowing less than 2 goals a game. |
| 3. Detroit Red Wings | Detroit averaging over 3 goals a game offensively and is 8-2 over it's last 10 |
| 4. Philadelphia Flyers | Philly has been dominating it's opponents and just re-upped forward Jeff Carter to an 11-year deal. |
| 5. Vancouver Canucks | Vancouver has been playing solid hockey lately, and Roberto Luongo has his game in solid form now. |
| 6. Montreal Canadiens | The loss of Andrei Markov again, will hurt this team, but they are playing solid hockey. |
| 7. St. Louis Blues | Jaroslav Halak and Ty Conklin are solid in net, and the Blues are getting enough scoring to win some games. |
| 8. Anaheim Mighty Ducks | After a horrible start the Ducks have won 4 in a row and sit 4th in the Western Conference. |
| 9. Pittsburgh Penguins | Evgeni Malkin had a hat trick in their last game, if he gets going they will challenge Philly for top spot in the Division. |
| 10. new York Rangers | Marian Gaborik's return will help the offense, the Rangers should get streaky when Henrik Lundqvist recovers from his illness. |
| 11. Ottawa Senators | Brian Elliot's play in net has solidified close to last year's form, and has helped the surging Senators to a 7-3 record over it's last 10. |
| 12. Chicago Blackhawks | The Blackhawks allow way too many goals, but fortunately they score enough to keep up with the over 3 goals allowed per game pace. |
| 13. Phoenix Coyotes | The Coyotes have lost a league high 5 games in overtime or shootout, and finally had a big outburst offensively with 5 goals the other night. |
| 14. Tampa Bay Lightning | Steven Stamkos has been on fire, but the loss of Vinny Lecavalier will hurt their depth. They are slumping losing 4 out of 5. |
| 15. San Jose Sharks | San Jose sits 9th in the Western Conference and is struggling to find consistency. |
| 16. Columbus Blue Jackets | Columbus has a goaltending controversy as Mathieu Garon has outplayed Steve Mason at the start. |
| 17. Boston Bruins | Boston after getting off to a strong start as cooled playing .500 hockey over their last 10. |
| 18. Atlanta Thrashers | Atlanta is a .500 hockey team with some skill, and right now they are sitting at .500. Expect this to be their record a good portion of the season. |
| 19. Minnesota Wild | Minnesota sits 2nd in the Northwest, but will need to pick up its game to stay there all season. Their defense/goaltending has been strong. |
| 20. Nashville Predators | After a good start, the Preds have slipped to the back of the pack in the Central. They need better consistency from starter Pekka Rinne. |
| 21. Carolina Hurricanes | The Canes, like Chicago, have been giving up way too many goals, including 8 in a big loss versus the Flyers. |
| 22. Colorado Avalanche | Craig Anderson's return will help settle this team down. Peter Budaj hasn't been horrible but this team needs it's number 1 goalie. |
| 23. Florida Panthers | Florida has only played 15 games compared to 17 for most, and like Atlanta, their .500 record is pretty much going to be the best they will do this season. |
| 24. Buffalo Sabers | Buffalo finally won a home game and having a healthy Ryan Miller makes this team better than their record indicates. |
| 25. Dallas Stars | Dallas was surging to start the season, but we figured that wouldn't last and a sub .500 record over the last 10 indicates that was correct. |
| 26. Calgary Flames | The Flames don't play much defense in front of Mikka Kipprusoff, but they do score close to 3 goals per game which has helped keep them near .500 |
| 27. New Jersey Devils | The Devils have 5 points in the last 8 and have scored 8 goals in their last 2 games. A good Boston team will be a huge test tonight. |
| 28. Toronto Maple Leafs | Toronto has 1 win in last 7 and GM Brian Burke was recently watching Anaheim and Chicago, which could suggest a deal in the works. |
| 29. Edmonton Oilers | Edmonton just finished a horrible road trip in which their best loss was an overtime loss to New Jersey. |
| 30. New York Islanders | The Isles haven't won a game in 10 and just fired Scott Gordon, the Isles are a team with injuries and not a lot of talent. |
