AFC Championship
Baltimore Ravens @ New England Patriots
There are plenty of key story lines in this game. On one side you have the great Tom Brady. The Tom Brady that has 3 Super Bowl rings on his fingers. The Tom Brady that has the chance to surpass the legendary Joe Montana for most playoff wins and tie him for most Super Bowl rings if he wins two more games. The New England Patriots dynasty of a decade ago seems like a distant memory right now. The last few post-season images in Brady's head are David Tyree making the most miraculous catch in the history of football ending his bid for a 4th ring and two recent home playoff loses to the Ravens and Jets. With guys like Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and even TIM TEBOW getting most of the publicity this season; it's clear Brady has played with a chip in his shoulder all season.

This weekend's NFC side of the divisional round will feature the best two games of the playoffs so far. One game will feature a rematch between the New York Giants and the 15-1 Green Back Packers. The two teams faced off in December in the Meadowlands and it was a pretty close game. It was the first time all season we saw the Packers trail in the 4th quarter and the first time Aaron Rodgers led his team from behind to a game winning field goal. The second game features what will likely be the best game of the weekend in my opinion. It will be he red-hot top ranked offense of Drew Brees and the Saints against the red-hot, top ranked defense of Patrick Willis and the 49ers. Something will have to give.

The wild card round was pretty exciting, but it is now officially the best weekend in football. The divisional round of the playoffs usually always delivers with big time games and exciting moments. The last time all four home teams won on wild card weekend was in 2006. This sets up a battle between the top four seeds in both conferences. This is also the last time four football games will be played in a weekend. After this weekend there are only 3 football games left in the NFL season; so enjoy this while you can.

In my opinion, the NFC has been the superior conference all season long. The playoff field in the NFC is simply loaded with talented teams that all have a shot and could make a case for representing the conference in the SuperBowl. It will be fun to watch as these teams battle it out and eliminate each other. The Packers and 49ers get to sit home and relax for a week while Wild Card weekend takes shape.

Another amazing NFL season has culminated and it is now playoff time. Sure, in about a month we'll be saddened that we have to wait 7 months for football again; so we should enjoy the playoffs while we can. This season was all about offensive records being broken. Three QB's threw for over 5,000 yards and two of them broke Dan Marino's single season passing record. Many believed that record would never be touched, but it seems like that will become the norm in today's pass-first, offensive explosion NFL.
Today we look at the AFC Wild Card round. The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens earned themselves a week of rest and get to sit back and wait to see who they play.

After blowing a 17 point halftime lead against the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles' defense was put under the microscope. From the beginning of the season, most analysts knew the "Dream Team's" Achilles' heel would be the linebacking corps. This has been evident as the Eagles are one of the last teams against the run. But blowing this lead has made critics question the legitimacy of the Eagles entire defense.
Actually, the defense has been the elephant in the room this season. The ESPN radio show Mike and Mike in the Morning even made light of it on October 5, 2011, as Mike Goldberg asked former Eagle d-lineman Mike Golic if Golic could help out the Eagles for one game on the field.
Total blame does not fail solely on the linebackers, the defense line and defense backs have played paltry as well.

Coming off a big week of perfection one would have reason to be cocky, arrogant, and insufferable with weekly picks/write-ups. I am not going to be that person, at least not this week. It's about consistency, and proving that one good week is not a fluke, so let us hope I can build on recent success. That being said I hope you took my advice last week, and if you did not I hope you feel really, really bad about it. A few thoughts on last weekend's picks before Topher City Gopher Money Maker's Week 4 is unveiled...

The Buffalo Bills are the flavor of the week after their exciting win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 2. While many analysts are singing their praises, it doesn’t take an Einstein to figure out the real tests for the Bills lie within the AFC East.
