Dilfer loves Tebow

Dilfer Ravens

We get it, Trent Dilfer has a huge man crush on Tim Tebow. All he does is go on ESPN and talk about him and praise him as if he was sent directly from God. Tebow is winning games, largely in part to others. Sounds all too familiar to Trent Dilfer. Does the 2000 Super Bowl winning QB have something in common with the second coming?

Dilfer was backup QB for the Ravens to start the year, to Tony Banks. After a few horrible weeks from the offense, the Ravens canned Banks and in came Dilfer became the average starter, going 7-2 to end the regular season and helped get the Ravens into the playoffs as a wildcard team. People and analyst were miffed as to how this average guy could get this team to the playoffs. Funny, no one claimed the second coming when Dilfer did it.

Dilfer finished the year with 12 TDs and 11 INTs and a 76.6 QB Rating. Only two of those 7 wins were by less than 14 points. It appeared as if all the attention went to the defense, even though Dilfer was the QB, managing the inept offense, putting up over 27 points per game. Again, no one was saying that Dilfer was that good.

Flash to Tebow and he is doing the unthinkable, well unless you don't think about Dilfer, which is why Dilfer is all giddy. He is reminiscing about the days which he was inexperienced and had a great team behind. Ok, so the Broncos defense isn't as good as the Ravens were, but they do play hard and the rest of the team is no push over.

Tebow is managing this team, as any good quarterback should. There is skill involved to do what he is doing, and he is not a total waste, but still, he is normal at best and this is a quarterback league. Tebow has beaten just one team that would currently make the playoffs, the Jets, and they are sliding. Sure, he has 3 OT wins this year, but the Vikings and Dolphins shouldn't even be close to beating a good team. If Tebow could manage a game better, he wouldn't find himself coming from behind.

Tebows is the coolest fad, much like any other running quarterback was. They all disappear. Soon, Tebow will too.
