NBA Opening Night Live Blog

The Mavericks and the Bulls go head-to-head in Dallas. I'll do a live blog here as the Defending Champs, Dallas Mavericks, look to start their title defense. Refresh for updates.

9:00 - I think they tipped off...

9:15 - The rings were handed out before the game. Looked like something I've never seen before

9:20 - A few minutes into the game, still no score. Flipped over to the Bruins game which is 5-3. I took a bet today, Bruins more goals than Jason Kidd 3's

9:25 - DeShawn Stevenson was seen chatting it up with a 17-year old on the side line during the time out

9:26 - Brian Cardinal ..... Still on the bench

9:30 - Noah's hair is flowing. He decided not to put it up in a ponytail tonight. Can't see the back of his jersey anymore.

9:31 - Brian Scalabrine steps on the court for the first time, in street clothes with a towel.

9:32 - Craig Sager has ditched his loud suits for board shorts and flip flops. Looks funny since the camera angle is always showing him from the waist up.

9:35 - Kim Kardashian seen behind the Bulls bench. Looks like she was chatting up Kyle Korver

9:37 - The TNT coverage tonight has been flawless and these new T-Mobile commercials are hillarious

9:40 - End of the 1st - Good game thus far. Jason Kidd and Dirk have been quiet thus far, surprisingly.

9:42 - Clock Malfunction to start the 2nd. Pride of Northeastern, JJ Barera, is out there throwing up halfcourt shots, trying to kill time.

9:45 - Clock fixed, but I think a lot of people tuned over to ESPN at this point. They will have to catch the highlights in the morning

9:47 - Tough start of the season for the Bulls. On the road in Dallas then to New Orleans tomororw night. Could easily start this season 0-0 after Weds. night.

9:50 - Just noticed that DeShawn Stevenson has decided to sit next to the young female he was chatting with earlier, rather than sit with his team. Jason Terry appreciates the minutes on the court, dribbling, dribbling, dribbling....

9:55- Peja has been off tonight. Can't buy a bucket

9:58 - New Tosh.0 coming on soon for those who aren't die hard fans of the NBA

10:00 - Marv Albert killing it with the play-by-play... "Let's See That AGAIN!!!" Not sure if he is talking about Rick Carlisle eating a hot dog or Stevenson touching the 17-year old girl

10:05 - Brendan Haywood put on a few pounds. Easily 7-feet 300-lbs.

10:06 - DeShawn Stevenson still paying homage to Breast Awareness month in October and Noah is already ahead of the rest of the world for Novemeber Mustache Month

10:08 - Ian Mahinmi making France proud, air-balled the free-throw. Apparent NBA Opening Night jitters.

10:10 - Tosh.0 Web Redemption looks great though

10:15 - Halftime - My analysis thus far is that the game has really changed since last year. Not sure if its the Mavericks defense that has stepped up or Jalen Rose's lack of off-season workout plan. Kid took the hype straight to the head

10:16 - Halftime over - I guess this is a way for the NBA to make more money. Shorter halftime show so people don't fall asleep to Charles Barkley mumbling. Back to Craig Sager. Note - Stevenson has left with the 17-year old.

10:18 - Shaq has joined the TNT team this year. He is taking a page straight out of the Rock-N-Jock playbook, serving as MC on the court while the game is going on, just yelling "KAZAAM" everytime Dirk touches the ball.

10:26 - "KAZAAM"

10:28 - Tosh.0 was good, for those who missed it, looking for the NBA game.

10:30 - Running time in the NBA when the game gets boring? I like it. Refs have yet to blow the whistle.

10:32 - Brian Cardinal still on the bench

10:33 - Deng's got Hops, Blairstown Academy tought him well.

10:36 - Garbage time, Jannero Pargo enters for the Bulls, or was about to, until Scalabrine took his jersey and stepped on the court. Not sure if the suit pants are allowed on the court, but they are definitely hindering Scal's jumping abilities.

10:40 - Standing ovation for Ron Washington. Surprised it took the crowd to this long to realize that he was there. Guess its all those fair-weather fans who failed to recognize what Ron Washington looked like. Meanwhile Carlisle subs in Josh Hamilton since Stevenson is no where to be found.

10:41 - "KAZAAM"

10:43 - Brian Cardinal thought about coming into the game, but remained on the bench. Didn't want to use him up before the playoffs started.

10:44 - Hamilton shoots fromt he Rock-N-Jock 25-pointer circle at the buzzer. Sinks it! What's left of the crowd goes crazy. Announced attendance = 0.

Final thoughts - NBA season is underway. Who thought that we would ever get to this point, but the owners and players finally agreed to new rules and playing style to draw in more fans and celebs. It looks like it worked out. Can't wait to hear Jalen Rose's analysts of this game on SportsCenter. He was last seen chugging a few beers before driving off with Stevenson and his new girlfriend.
