MLB HOF J-O-K-E

I could write every single year about why Mark McGwire should be in the Hall of Fame. Don't even look at his numbers, rather him and Sosa should have a statue out in front of the Hall. They should greet you as you drive into Cooperstown for what they did to save baseball. I love baseball more than any other sport but I have to say I am embarrassed by those who claim to be part of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

sosa_mcgwire_sports_illustratedAt this point I realize that it will take a dead Mark McGwire to make the Hall of Fame. These writers who immortalized McGwire and Sosa, even put anadems on their heads, feel the need to crucify him as well. Whatever, I'm sick of it. They can't justify it. But what gets me now is that they want to throw Jeff Bagwell up on the cross too.

Jeff Bagwell, never accused or suspected of taking performance enhancing drugs and never mentioned in the Mitchell Report, will not make the Hall of Fame on first ballot. Will we ever see a first ballot hall of famer? Probably not. I don't like Bagwell just because he was born in Boston, or drafted by the Sox and then traded straight up for Larry Anderson, but rather because he was a great hitter. Larry Anderson meanwhile pitched in 15 games for the Sox recording 1 save.

According to every Hall of Fame indicator, Bagwell belongs.

Black Ink Batting - 24 (79), Average HOFer ≈ 27
Gray Ink Batting - 157 (76), Average HOFer ≈ 144
Hall of Fame Monitor Batting - 150 (83), Likely HOFer ≈ 100
Hall of Fame Standards Batting - 59 (36), Average HOFer ≈ 50

I don't know what else Bagwell needs to do. I don't need to list off his stats, do it yourself. You watched baseball in the 90s and 2000s then you know who Bagwell is. What are the Baseball Writers doing? Grouping all players in the decade together and teaching them a lesson is a joke.

Way to go guys. You really took hostage of MLB and taught us all a lesson. Stop glorifying these guys and kissing their ass in the locker room, only to bash them once they retire.
