(Editor's Note: Jeff continues with his Sox thoughts)
The collapse of the 2011 Boston Red Sox is over, and will always be over. Its sports, things like this happen, but all of this crying and drama must end. It is not the end of the world by far, and the team and the media need to let this all go away. It will always be remembered sure, but so aren't a bunch of other things in sports. How do the players and fans think when the Yankees blew a 3-0 lead in the 2004 ALCS? No, you heard too much about the Red Sox succeeding rather than the Yankees failing. Did the yanks fire Torre immediately after? That is just what happens in sports, and frankly, this drama, it's for the better. Things like the collapse of the Red Sox and the miracle of the Rays is what makes sports what it is.

This is stunning. Another conspiracy in MLB has hit. This one may go by the wayside though, because no one cares about the Florida Marlins. Unbeknownst to me, or anyone, the Florida Marlins played a day baseball game today against the Cincinnati Reds. It was a double-header and the Marlins won 6-5. An exciting game, actually. But what just took place here?

I guess congratulations is due to Minnesota Twins pitcher, Francisco Liriano for his no-hit bid? It did come against one of the lowest scoring teams in MLB this season and Liriano only struck out 2 batters while throwing 123 pitches. What's worse is that only 66 of those pitches were strikes (53.66%).

We've been down this road before with Manny Ramirez. Seemingly, I am the only one to defend his legacy as the media bashes him, calls him arrogant, and questions his heart. This trickles down to the fans, who erroneously boo him and celebrate his failure. I really don't understand where this comes from. It probably started with his aloof manner with the media, ostensibly the higher power and decider of what is right and wrong in the game. You don't cross the Baseball Writers Association of America, or it could be the end of you.

I could write every single year about why Mark McGwire should be in the Hall of Fame. Don't even look at his numbers, rather him and Sosa should have a statue out in front of the Hall. They should greet you as you drive into Cooperstown for what they did to save baseball. I love baseball more than any other sport but I have to say I am embarrassed by those who claim to be part of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Reason #31593 why I hate ESPN: This whole Jeter thing about getting not hit is just absurd and ESPN is blowing it wide open trying to make an issue out of it and therefore, making me defend Jeter. What is going on in this world. ESPN, why must you do this? It has been on your front page all day as if he got caught with steroids. Next you will be asking if he should be in the Hall of Fame.

I'm sure you've seen the video of the kid getting hit by the ball at the Astros game. Wait, not the kid standing up but his girlfriend behind him that got hit after her boyfriend ducked out of the way like a scared 5-year old. What you may not have seen is the post-game interviews or the day after interviews. This kid has to hate his life. I mean look at her face.

The trading deadline came and went and as expected, the Red Sox didn't do anything and the Yankees did everything to get more players. I scratch my head on the decisions, much as I used to do back prior to 2004 when the Yankees would do whatever they could to buy players at the deadline, and even more, this one makes no sense to me.

I understand this isn't the 1989 World Series, but it is still a damn earthquake that rattled through Petco Park last night. No one is making a big deal of it though. Sure ESPN Sportscenter tonight will do a top 10 segment for top 10 earthquakes at sporting events, which I doubt that there is even more than 3, and #1 will be the 1989 World Series, but these fans last night were treated to something special.
